Lorri Reynolds - Head Coach
I have been a lifelong swimmer and began teaching swim lessons at 14 in my back yard pool in Florida. I have been coaching Volleyball at Chamblee since 2004, coached Dive in 2010, and this is my fourth year as Head Swim Coach. I started the Aquatics curriculum here at CHS in 2011 as part of the PE offering. I have also taught swim lessons at Dynamo Swim Club and private lessons at Leslie Beach Club. I’m looking forward to another great year of breaking records!
Greg Valley - Head Coach
I
am a graduate of Chamblee High School, where I swam and captained the team. At the University of Georgia, I co-founded the club swimming team and served as the first president. Over the past two decades, I have coached summer and fall swim teams at several neighborhood clubs. During law school, I decided that I wanted to teach social studies so I finished school, passed the bar exam, and started teaching 6th grade Social Studies at Chamblee Middle three days later. After ten great years at CMS (2010-2020), I moved to Chamblee High School where I currently teach AP U.S. Government and Aquatics.
Dr. David Curlette - Assistant Coach
Coach Curlette brings more than two decades of swimming, coaching, teaching, and leadership experience to Chamblee High School Swim & Dive. His background spans summer-league, club/year-round, Masters, and high-school swimming, including 19 years of high-school swim and dive coaching at Duluth High School, where the program was recognized three times as Gwinnett County Coaching Staff of the Year. Coach Curlette brings a passion to help athletes grow as swimmers, teammates, leaders, and young adults. He also brings the philosophy of teammates supporting one another, continuing to improve, and representing our school with pride. He is excited to coach alongside Chamblee’s outstanding coaches to help every swimmer and diver grow, compete, and contribute to a strong team culture.
Traci Chu - Dive Coach
I am so excited to return to Chamblee for my 2nd year and kick off this season! As a former DeKalb County, ADA diver, and Emory diver I earned a D1 scholarship, earned All American honors and trips to NCAA nationals. Following my college diving career I trained for the Olympic trials, and then became a stunt woman for movies and commercials in Los Angeles.
I take diving safety very seriously after recovering from a broken neck that left me paralyzed for over a year. I have over 30 years of experience coaching, and still love the sport! I coach a summer and fall swim club team, a Grown Up Swimming adult team, and officiate gymnastics for USA Gymnastics, NCAA, and high school gymnastics, along with private care for seniors and the elderly with early dementia and Alzheimer’s. Let’s goooo!💪🏼
I started my diving career in high school following years of competitive gymnastics.
Sarah Looney - Assistant Coach
Coach Sarah is excited to start her fifth season coaching at Chamblee High School. As an Atlanta native, Coach Sarah has grown up on Georgia swimming, competing for over 13 years in Georgia summer leagues, clubs (Swim Atlanta) and high school (North Gwinnett) athletics. She finished her swimming career as a 4-year letter winner at the University of Pittsburgh (class of 2011) and has been known, from time to time, to compete in an occasional Master’s meet. She looks forward to bringing energy and excitement to our swimmers’ early morning practices and can’t wait to help the team push forward to an amazing 26-27 swim season!
